In my opinion, Within You is the song that ties the story together. We know Jareth loves Sarah, and we know that because Sarah created Jareth, that she wants him to love her. Jareth knows, as Sarah knows, that she is about to save her brother and return home to “reality”, thus letting go of The Labyrinth forever. Jareth begs her to stay, offers to be her slave, and transforms into an owl after Sarah tells him that her imagination no longer has any power over her. After saving Toby, Sarah lets go of her childhood fantasies, including The Goblin King.
How you’ve turned my world, you precious thing
You starve and near exhaust me
Everything I’ve done, I’ve done for you
I move the stars for no one
You’ve fun so long
You’ve run so far,
Your eyes can be so cruel
Just as I can be so cruel
Though I do believe in you.
Sarah: Toby!
Jareth: (song, cont.) Yes, I do.
Live without your sunlight
Love without your heartbeat.
I can’t live within you.

I loved watching the Labyrinth as a child, I love David Bowie. I found him very sexy in the movie. I was sad when they didn’t get together.

You know, I used to watch this movie all the time as a kid. It was the most played VHS in my parent’s house. I would sing along to all the songs – admittedly not knowing most of the words and stumbling over the lyrics – and I would dance and dance to David Bowie. Now, as an adult, I sort of get it. I never once thought about the meaning behind any of it. But now that you say that it’s Sarah throwing away her childhood fantasies, it makes a lot of sense. Lol.

II’ve always loved the labryinth,I love the lesson’s it teaches, and how amazing the movie turned out. As Leonard Maltin said, “I coulnd’t wish for a movie with more imagination or fun!” I really wish they would make a second movie!

I loved this song because it really shows you how deeply his love for Sarah goes. If I had the chance to stay with him I would. I would love him. I watched this movie when I was 10 and he has haunted my dreams ever since.
